The commonest surgical procedures undertaken are  the removal of fractured splint bones, rig operations and hernia repairs.  The new surgical facility should enable us to extend the service we offer.  It is appreciated that  travel horses to referral centres  out of the area is expensive and time consuming.  Sometimes, as in colic cases, surgery is  better performed sooner, rather than after a four hour journey.
